Your Eminence, honourable fathers, dear Margarita Borisovna, dear brothers and sisters!
It was with deep sorrow that I received the news of the death of Boris Aleksandrovich Nelyubov, doctor of theology, historian, translator, expert in the non-Chalcedonian Churches and Honorary Professor of the Moscow Theological Academy.
For more than six decades of his fruitful educational and research activity, Boris Aleksandrovich was making a great contribution to the education of future clergymen and to the development of theological science. Many generations of pastors and church scholars gratefully remember his lectures, at which he was showing his talent as a teacher and remarkable breadth of knowledge. Boris Aleksandrovich’s name is widely known in secular academic circles thanks to his many academic publications, which have opened the world of the Ancient Oriental Churches to a lot of people.
The Lord destined me to personally know the deceased. He worked with my lead in the Department for External Church Relations and proved himself as a responsible, efficient and diligent worker who zealously fulfilled the tasks given to him.
With firm hope in God’s mercy, I offer up my prayers to the Lover of Mankind, beseeching Him to establish His servant Boris in the mansions of the righteous, forgive him all his voluntary and involuntary transgressions, and grant him eternal memory.
With sincere condolences,
PATRIARCH OF MOSCOW AND ALL RUS'
Patriarch
