Representatives of the Russian Church attend the meeting of the Group of Strategic Vision “Russia-Islamic World”

On March 5, the leadership of the Group of Strategic Vision “Russia-Islamic World” met with ambassadors of the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. The meeting that took place at the Reception House of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation in Moscow was chaired by Andrei Yu. Rudenko, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, and Rustam N. Minnikhanov, chairman of the Group and the Rais (Head) of the Republic of Tatarstan. The participants were informed about the Group’s work in 2023, the preparations for its next meeting and the 15^th International Economic Forum “Russia-Islamic World: KazanForum 2024”” to be held in the capital of Tatarstan on May 14-19.

The speakers emphasized the importance of participation of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus' in the Group meeting held in Kazan on May 19, 2023, and of the thoughts and theses presented in his report.

The meeting was also attended by ambassadors and other representatives of the diplomatic corps of the Islamic world countries, as well as representatives of state and public structures and the expert community.

The Russian Orthodox Church was represented by Metropolitan Kirill of Kazan and Tatarstan, a member of the Strategic Vision Group; hieromonk Grigory (Matrusov), chairman of the Patriarch’s Expert Council for Interaction with the Islamic World; and Rev. Ilya Kashitsyn, secretary for Interreligious Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations.
