“The Art of Christian Armenia” exhibition in Moscow ends with a concert of Armenian sacred and folk music

On February 24, the vocal and instrumental ensemble Trio “Cilicia” gave a concert at the Moscow cultural and educational center “Book Chamber in Chernigovsky.”
The musical evening was the final official event of “The Art of Christian Armenia” exhibition organized by the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations (DECR) together with the Ss Cyril and Methodius Theological Institute of Post-Graduate Studies and the Diocese of New Nakhichevan and Russia of the Armenian Apostolic Church.
Greeting the audience were Mr. Viktor F. Starodubtsev, director of the Book Chamber; Mr. Sergei G. Alferov, DECR employee and teacher at the Theological Institute; and Mr. David R. Bagdasaryan, director of the Tarpan Museum of Armenian Church Art of the Diocese of New Nakhichevan and Russia.
Members of the Trio Cilicia Ms Palig Kalemkeryan (mezzo-soprano), Ms Margarita Khananushyan (piano) and Honored Artist of Russia Konstantin Popov (cello), together with the special guest of the concert Armen Hovhannisyan (duduk), performed works of the outstanding Armenian composers of different times, such as archimandrite Grigor Narekatsi, archimandrite Komitas, Makar Yekmalyan, and Arno Babajanian.
At the end, the concert organizers and musicians answered many questions from the audience.
