Representatives of various confessions exchange experience in the sphere of social ministry.

A round table on the social ministry of religious communities and interconfessional exchange of experience will take place on 25th January 2024 at the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate as part of the XXXII International Nativity Readings under the subsection entitled “Tradition. Dialogue and External Ties.”

The session will be headed by archpriest Maxim Pltnev, the director of the coordinating centre for combating drug addiction and alcoholism at the Department for Church Charity and Social Ministry of the Saint Petersburg diocese. The workshop will be held by Margarita Nelyubova from the secretariat of the Department of External Church Relations for inter-Christian ties. Reading out greetings will be hieromonk Stephan (Igumnov), secretary for inter-Christian ties of the DECR.

Representatives of various confessions attending the event will demonstrate their groundwork in the sphere of social ministry. The speakers will share their experience of church aid to families of participants in the special military operation and organizing social and psychological work with them at the parish level, including the setting up of support groups for women, the relatives of whom are in combat zones. Another important topic upon which the round table participants will be sharing their experience is the organization of aid to the homeless and feeding without charge people in need.

The event will be held from 14.00 to 17.00 on 25th January at ul. Danilovsky val, no.22 in the main hall of the Department for External Church Relations. The nearest metro station is Tulskaya.
