Head of Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Israel meets with Russian Ambassador

On January 11, H.E. Anatoly Viktorov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the State of Israel, visited the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem and met with its head, Archimandrite Vassian (Zmeyev).

During the conversation, an in-depth exchange of views on the topical issue of state-confessional cooperation took place. Also brought up were practical aspects of the strengthening of Russian ecclesiastical and cultural presence in the Holy Land and issues of security and inviolability of immovable property of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission.

Particular attention was paid to the prospects for the resumption of unimpeded pilgrimage of Russian citizens to Israel.

Taking part in the meeting was also hegumen Nikon (Golovko), secretary of the Mission.
