Bishop Pitirim of Jakarta celebrates Divine Liturgy in Laos

On Sunday, November 26, Bishop Pitirim of Jakarta, a vicar of the Singapore diocese, celebrated the Divine Liturgy in Vientiane, the Lao People’s Democratic Republic. The archpastor visited the capital of Laos with the blessing of Metropolitan Sergiy of Singapore and Southeast Asia, Patriarchal Exarch of Southeast Asia.
The divine service was celebrated at the Russian House in Vientiane, Telegram channel of the Exarchate reports. Among those attending were the Embassy employees and Orthodox compatriots.
After the service, the faithful talked with Bishop Pitirim at the tea party.
Metropolitan Sergiy visited on October 25-27. He met with Mr. Khanonglith, director of the Department of Religious Affairs at the Lao Front of National Development. Discussed was a wide range of issues pertaining to the Orthodox parish in Vientiane. Also, Metropolitan Sergiy met with H.E. Vladimir Kalinin, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Lao People’s Democratic Republic. Their talk concerned care for compatriots living in Laos temporarily or permanently. The Patriarchal Exarch of Southeast Asia celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Russian House for members of St. Alexander Nevsky Orthodox community.
