On September 17, celebrations took place to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the consecration of the Armenian church complex in Trifonovskaya Street. The celebrations were headed by ruling Archbishop Ezras Nersisian, governor of the Russian and Novo-Nakhichevan Diocese.
At the invitation of Archbishop Ezras, the commemorative reception to mark the anniversary was attended by Chairman of the Department of External Church Relations Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk; Patriarchal Exarch for Africa and acting governor of the Yerevan and Armenia Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church Metropolitan Leonid of Klin; DECR Vice Chairman Archimandrite Philaret (Bulekov). Among the honorary guests were statesmen of Armenia, Russia and other countries, representatives of public organizations and of traditional Christian denominations of Moscow.
On behalf of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, Metropolitan Anthony congratulated the assembly on the anniversary of the historical event. Exactly ten years ago on September 17, Patriarch Kirill attended the opening ceremony of the church complex together with Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians Garegin II. In his address to the assembly, DECR Chairman underscored the special qualities of the fraternal relations, dating back many ages, between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Armenian Apostolic Church as well as between the Christian peoples of Armenia and Russia, the Armenian church complex in the heart of the Russian capital city being the evident symbol of these relations.
