On the 22nd of August, Metropolitan Nicholas of Eastern America and New York, First Hierarch of the Russian Church Abroad, who is in the Holy Land on a pilgrimage visit, visited the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem. He was accompanied by Archimandrite Roman (Krasovsky), head of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in the Church Abroad.
The high guest was welcomed by the head of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem Archimandrite Alexander (Elisov), staff and sisters of the Mission, the REM press service reports.
Metropolitan Nicholas visited the house church of the Holy Queen Martyr Alexandra, located in the Mission building. There, he warmly thanked the residents of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission for their warm and hospitable welcome, noting that it was the first time he was visiting the Holy Land in his new rank.
Responding to Metropolitan Nicholas' words, Archimandrite Alexander (Elisov) stressed that it was very important for the workers of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission to realise their spiritual closeness with the episcopate and clergy of the Church Abroad and especially with its First Hierarch, to feel brotherly love and unity of purpose in today's changing world. In memory of his visit to the Mission, the Head of the REM presented His Eminence with a bishop's staff.
A tea party was then held, during which the two sides continued their fraternal conversation.
