Representatives of the Local Orthodox Churches attend the Bishops’ Convocation of the Russian Orthodox Church

The representatives of four of the Local Orthodox Churches attended the Bishops’ Convocation of the Russian Orthodox Church, which took place on 19^th July in the Great Assembly Hall of the Moscow Theological Academy under the presidency of His Holiness the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill.

Those present were the metropolitan of Philippopolis Niphon (the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Antioch), the bishop of Moravica Anthony (the Serbian Orthodox Church), archimandrite Seraphim Shemyatovsky (the Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia) and archpriest Daniel Andrejuk (the Orthodox Church in America).

At the conclusion of the session on behalf of the representatives of the Local Orthodox Churches, the representative of the Patriarch of Antioch to the Patriarchal Throne of Moscow the metropolitan of Philippopolis Niphon said to His Holiness the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill: “We thank you, Your Holiness, that you gave your blessing for us to be observers at this important gathering of the Bishops’ Convocation.” He noted the importance of the topics raised at the convocations, in particular the moral and cultural foundations of episcopal and priestly ministry raised in the presentation by the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church.

“We were very pleased to hear this excellent fatherly lesson and we will endeavour to live according to the words which you have spoken. We wish you good and strong health for many years,” said metropolitan Niphon in conclusion.
