Bishops Conference of the Russian Orthodox Church to be held at the Holy Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra

On July 19, a Bishops’ Conference of the Russian Orthodox Church will be held at the Holy Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra.
The decision to hold a Bishops Conference was made at the Holy Synod session on 29 December 2022. The Synod members resolved “to convene a Bishops Conference on 19 July 2023 consisting of all the diocesan and auxiliary bishops in the territory of Russia - without fail, as well as bishops of the dioceses in other countries - depending on the possibility for them to come to Moscow” (Minutes No. 121).
The Bishops Conference will be opened at 11:00 on 19 July in the Great Assembly Hall of the Moscow Theological Academy. There will be two plenary sessions, ‘Patriarchia.ru’ website reports with reference to the Synodal Department for the Church’s Relations with Society and the Mass Media.
The bishops began to arrive for the Bishops Conference and celebration of the commemoration day of St. Sergius of Radonezh (marked on July 18) on July l7.
It is expected that the All-Night Vigil on July 17 and the Divine Liturgy on July 18 on the dais in front of the Lavra’s Cathedral of the Dormition will be presided over by His Holiness Kirill, Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia.
