Transcarpathian authorities outlaw communities that remain loyal to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church
The vast majority of religious communities in Transcarpathia belong to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church. At the same time, as was announced a month ago, not a single one of these 623 communities has defected to the schismatic structure of the "OCU" over the past year.
However, pressure on them is growing sharply: as the Union of Orthodox Journalists reported on June 1, 2023, deputies of the Transcarpathian regional council decided to ban the canonical Church in this region of Ukraine.
The regional council's page on the social network claims that by such a decision, the authorities strengthened national security "in the sphere of activity of public and religious organizations on the territory of Transcarpathian region".
