DECR Chairman meets with Apostolic Nuncio in Argentina

On February 9, Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, Chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate Department for External Church Relations, met in Buenos-Aires with Archbishop Miroslav Adamcik, Apostolic Nuncio in Argentina.
Metropolitan Anthony warmly greeted the nuncio and told him that he came to the Argentinian capital to attend a meeting of the round-table conference on ‘The Russian Orthodox Church and Compatriots: The experience of cooperation in Latin American countries’.
‘For us Argentina is an important country since residing in it is the largest Russian-speaking diaspora in Latin America’, the DECR Chairman noted.
Thet discussed in particular the themes of inter-Christian cooperation.
Metropolitan Anthony mentioned the old history of mutual relations between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Roman Catholic Church. ‘We should develop the dialogue for the good of the world’, the Orthodox hierarch stressed.
They also dealt with other issues of mutual concern.
Present at the meeting were Bishop Leonid of Argentina and South America, Archpriest Sergiy Yurin, secretary of the Diocese of Argentina and South America; as well as members of the Moscow church delegation including Archpriest Nikolay Lishchenyuk, DECR vice-chairman; Archpriest Sergiy Zvonarev, DECR secretary for the affairs of the diaspora; and Rev. Alexander Yershov, assistant to the DECR Chairman.
In conclusion of the conversation, the interlocutors exchanged tokens of the meeting.
