Moscow will host a conference on the Old Rite in the life of the Russian Orthodox Church

“The Old Rite in the Life of the Russian Orthodox Church: Past and Present” conference will take place at the Christ the Saviour Cathedral on January 24, 2023, as part of the 31st International Educational Christmas Readings.
Metropolitan Georgy of Nizhny Novgorod and Arzamas will chair the meeting. Acting as the curator will be Archpriest Ioann Mirolyubov, secretary of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Commission on Old Belief parishes and Cooperation with the Old Belief community and head of the Patriarchal Centre of the Old Russian Liturgical Tradition.
He will deliver a report on the development of concept for the Old Rite parishes of the Russian Orthodox Church. Among the speakers will be Ms Veronika Yu. Grigorieva, Cand.Sc. Art History, of St. Tikhon’s Orthodox University; Mr Gleb B. Pechenkin, head of St. Job Society of Lovers of Old Russian Singing; Rev. Mikhail Zheltov, rector of the church of the Nativity of Christ in Mitino, Moscow, and associate professor of the Moscow Theological Academy; Prof. Alexander Dugin, Dr. Sc. philosophy and political science; Archpriest Yevgeny Sarancha of the Common Faith church of St. Mikhail the Archangel in Mikhailovskaya Sloboda village, Moscow region; and Rev. Maksim Plyakin, secretary of the Saratov diocesan commission for canonization.
The conference will he held from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
