Festive divine services are celebrated at the Church of St. Nicholas in Demre, Turkey

On December 18, the eve of the commemoration day of St. Nicholas, Archbishop of Myra in Lycia, an evening service with the akathistos hymn were celebrated at the church of St. Nicholas in Demre, Turkey.
On December 19, the Divine Liturgy was celebrated there by the Rev. Georgy Sergeyev, responsible for pastoral care of the Moscow Patriarchate faithful residing in the Republic of Turkey. Assisting in the service were Rev. Alexy Golovin and hieromonk Pallady (Bystrov), clerics of the Russian Orthodox Church, who are taking pastoral care of its communities in Antalya and Akkuyu.
Praying at the service were pilgrims from different regions of Turkey and Russian employees working at the construction of the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant.
The Office of the Blessing of Waters was celebrated after the Liturgy followed by the Litiya for the repose of Andrei G. Karlov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Turkey who was assassinated by a terrorist in Ankara on December 19, 2016.
The worshippers laid flowers at the monument to the Hero of the Russian Federation Andrei Karlov in the main street in Demre named after the late diplomat.
