DECR chairman attends the opening of inter-religious forum in Rome

On October 23, the forum organized by the Community of Sant’Egidio on ‘The Cry for Peace’ began its work in Rome, Italy.

During the solemn opening, which took place at La Nuvola press-centre, key speeches were made by President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron, President of the Republic of Italy Sergio Mattarella, President of Italian Episcopal Conference Cardinal Matteo Zuppi, Founder of the Community of Sant’Egidio Andrea Riccardi, and several religious leaders from various regions of the world.

With a blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, the forum is attended by Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Department for External Church Relations, and I. A. Nikolaev, DECR Secretariat for Inter-Christian Relations.

Metropolitan Anthony had contacts on the side-lines of the event with attendees from Local Orthodox Churches, Christian confessions and traditional religions.

The forum will work from October 24 to 25.
