Metropolitan of Volokolamsk Anthony celebrates Liturgy on the patronal feast day of the Church of Saint John the Baptist ‘na Presne’

On 7^th July 2022 on the feast day of the Nativity of the Honourable and Glorious Prophet, Forerunner and Baptist of the Lord John, the chairman of the Department of External Church Relations the metropolitan of Volokolamsk Anthony celebrated the Divine Liturgy in the Church of the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist ‘na Presne’ in Moscow.

Concelebrating with His Eminence were the secretary of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, the dean of the central area protopresbyter Vladimir Divakov, the deputy chairmen of the DECR archpriest Nikolai Balashov and archimandrite Philaret (Bulekov), the rector of the Church of Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker on the Three Hills archpriest Dimitry Roschin, the rector of the Church of the Prophet of God Elijah on Obydenny Lane archpriest Maxim Shevtsov and the local clergy of the church archpriest Dionisy Lobov, Father Maxim Lobov and Father Alexei Vorontsov and deacons Yevgeny Kuznetsov, Sergei Bobrov and Nikolai Vasin.

The liturgical hymns were performed by the festive choir under the direction of T. M. Vorontsova.

At the communion of the clergy the sermon was delivered by Father Dionisy Lobov.

At the dismissal a prayer service was celebrated with a procession of the cross and then there was the glorification in the festal hymns by the reliquary containing a particle of the relics of Saint John the Baptist.

Then Many Years were sung to His Holiness the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia Kirill, the rector of the church the metropolitan of Volokolamsk Anthony, who had served and prayed at the festive service, and all Orthodox Christians.

Then metropolitan Anthony addressed greetings to those gathered in the church in which he congratulated the clergy and parishioners on the patronal feast day, as well as delivering a sermon on the theme of the feast day, according to the website of the Church of the Nativity of John the Baptist ‘na Presne’.
