Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk meets with president of Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity
On October 4, 2021, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, head of the Moscow Patriarchate Department for External Church Relations (DECR), who is in Italy for a working trip with a blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, met with the president of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity, Cardinal Kurt Koch.
The DECR head greeted the hierarch of the Roman Catholic Church and told him about the service carried out by the Russian Orthodox Church in today’s situation. The sides gave special attention to the challenges facing Christian confessions in the situation of the spreading coronavirus infection.
Metropolitan Hilarion and Cardinal Koch discussed several joint projects of the Roman Catholic Church and the Moscow Patriarchate, stating that the bilateral relations of the two Churches continued advancing. In the course of the meeting, they also considered several initiatives proposed for realization in the nearest future.
In conclusion of the conversation, the DECR chairman wished Cardinal Koch God’s help in his work and presented him with the Italian version of Vladimir Soloviev’s book Three Speeches about Dostoevsky published by the Sapienza e Scienza Academy in Rome. The presentation of this book will take place on October 5.
