The Diocese of Thailand keeps expanding its aid to Covid-19 patients

As the number of people infected by the coronavirus grows, the Thailand diocesan administration has approved an increase in the volume of its aid to Covid-19 patients in Bangkok, the city most affected by the pandemic in the country. In particular, along with the Thais, aid is now given to labour migrants from Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar, who are the most vulnerable in Thailand.

On June 16, the faithful distributed some 200 lunch-boxes to the neediest locals at a special ground arranged by the authorities near the St. Nicholas Cathedral in Bangkok, and on June 17, over 150 packages with foodstuffs were handed over for labour migrants kept in covid observation stations.

The Thailand Diocesan Administration reminded the faithful in Thailand that Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar are territorially parts of the diocese and no less active concern should be given for the citizens of these countries. The secretary of the Diocese of Thailand, Archimandrite Oleg (Cherepanin) expressed special thanks to Orthodox Thais who helped much to organize aid to those affected by the disease.
