Discussions held in the town hall of Cana of Galilee on the fate of the ‘Russian Garden.’
On 14th June 2021 at the town hall of Kafr Kanna, known in the Gospels as Cana of Galilee, a meeting took place between the secretary of the Russian Spiritual Mission in Jerusalem hegumen Nikon (Golovko) and the newly-elected mayor of the town Ezzeldine Amarah and representatives of the local authorities.
The topic of conversation was the fate of the ‘Russian Garden’ in Cana of Galilee, a plot of land acquired by the Russian Spiritual Mission in 1913 by the then-head of the Russian Spiritual Mission archimandrite Leonid (Sentsov) for the needs of Russian pilgrims. In the course of a fruitful discussion both sides outlined the mutually advantageous ways of preserving and developing Russian land in this holy town that is linked to events in the Gospels, stated the Mission’s press service.
