Bishop Anthony of Moravici is confident that fraternal relations between Russian and Serbian Churches will continue developing under Patriarch Porfirije

“Serbia today is a country that, after all the difficult developments in her history, is economically developing successfully thanks in the first place to the efforts of President Alexandar Vucic who is establishing broad international relations. Our fraternal relations with Russia and the Russian Orthodox Church are developing as well”, noted the representative of the Patriarch of Serbia to the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, Bishop Anthony of Moravici in his interview to the DECR website.

He recalled that His Holiness Patriarch Kirill and the chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s department for external church relations, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, were the first to congratulate His Eminence Porfirije on the phone after his election to the Patriarchal See of Serbia. “These congratulations gladdened Patriarch Porfirije; he could feel the great support and love of the great Slavonic people, of great Russia”, Bishop Anthony said.

“I believe the fraternal relations which the Patriarchs of Serbia have traditionally maintained with the Russian Church will be continued by Patriarch Porfirije as well, taking the path that our nations, Russian and Serbian, have followed for centuries”, the archpastor emphasized.
