His Holiness Kirill arrives in Holy Etchmiadzin

On 16 March 2010, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia arrived in Armenia on an official visit. He was met at the airport by the Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos and All Armenians Karekin II.

The Primates of the Russian Orthodox and the Armenian Apostolic Churches proceeded to the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin. Clergymen of the Armenian Apostolic Church met them at the central entrance to the Cathedral of Etchmiadzin.

His Holiness Patriarch Kirill venerated the relics of St. Gregory, the Illuminator of Armenia. The hierarchs and clergymen of the Russian Orthodox Church sang a troparion to St. Gregory in the Church Slavonic language.

His Holiness Patriarch Kirill and the Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians exchanged greetings and proceeded to the Patriarchal resident in Holy Etchmiadzin, press service of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia reports.

The Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church is accompanied by Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate Department for external church relations; Archbishop Feognost of Sergiev Posad, abbot of the Laura of the Holy Trinity; Bishop Sergiy of Solnechnogorsk head of the Moscow Patriarchate administrative secretariat; chairman of the Synodal Information Department V. Legoida; and hegumen Philipp (Ryabykh), DECR deputy chairman.
