Russian Orthodox Mission head’s Name-Day celebrated in Jerusalem

On February 17, 2011, the commemoration day of St. Isidore Pelousiotes, the patron saint of the head of the Russian Orthodox Mission in Jerusalem, Archimandrite Isidor Minaev, a thanksgiving was celebrated at the church of the Holy Martyr Empress Alexandra.

Among the congregation were Bishop Agapit of Stuttgart, Russian Church Outside Russia, the clergy of the Mission, Sister Georgia, abbess of the Gorneye Convent, with sisters, sisters of the Gethsemane Convent of St. Mary Magdalene and monastery workers and parishioners, the official website of the Russian Orthodox Mission in Jerusalem has reported.

Bishop Agapit greeted Father Isidor on the occasion of his name-day, pointing to the importance and complexity of his service as head of the Mission and wished him strength, patience and God’s help in all his efforts, ‘so that pilgrims coming to the Holy Land may find here what they seek’.

Hegumen Feofan Lukyanov, deputy head of the Mission, greeted Father Isidore on behalf of all the clergy of the Mission, and Sister Georgia spoke on behalf of the Gorneye nuns.

Father Isidore, on his part, thanked all those present for warm words and heartfelt prayers. He presented Hieromonk Innokenty Bespalov with the Order of St. Seraphim accorded him by Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and Russia in recognition of his zealous work in the Holy Land and on the occasion of his 50^th birthday.
