A first Orthodox church to be built in the capital of Iceland
On 29 April 2011, a lease of a plot of land for construction of a church was signed by the parish of the Russian Orthodox Church in Iceland and the Reykjavik Mayor’s Office. The lease was registered by the magistrate, the website of the Russian Orthodox Church in Iceland reports.
On May 12, Archbishop Mark of Yegorievsk, head of the Administration of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Institutions Abroad will bless a foundation stone of the first Orthodox church in Reykjavik and the Cultural and Spiritual Centre for the Russian speaking people.
