Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk addresses round-table conference on cooperation with expatriates
On August 24, during his visit to the USA made with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, head of the Moscow Patriarchate’s department for external church relations, addressed a meeting of the round-table conference on the Russian Orthodox Church and Expatriates: An Experience of Cooperation in North America and Oceania.
Metropolitan Hilarion spoke about the work carried out by the Department for External Church Relations in coordinating church work to support expatriates. He noted that the round-table conference was held in anticipation of the liturgical celebrations to be held on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of Fort Ross, which is a vivid testimony of the grateful memory for Russian people who made their own mark in the history of America.
In conclusion of his address, Metropolitan Hilarion expressed hope that such conferences would be continued in the future as they help church people, state officials and public organizations of expatriates to exchange experience in their concern for the faithful of the Moscow Patriarchate abroad.
