DECR chairman meets with hierarchs of Georgian Orthodox Church

On 22 January 2013, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, met with the hierarchs of the Georgian Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Theodore of Akhaltsikhe and Tao-Klarjeti and Metropolitan Gerasim of Zugdidi and Tsaishi.

The participants in the meeting discussed inter-Church relations and prospects for cooperation between the Russian and Georgian Churches and shared their views on inter-confessional dialogue.

Taking part in the meeting were also archpriest Nikolai Balashov, DECR vice-chairman, and archpriest Igor Yakimchuk, DECR secretary for inter-Orthodox relations.
