Hierarchs of the Serbian Orthodox Church take part in the celebration on the commemoration day of St. Sergius of Radonezh
On 8 October 2014, Metropolitan Porfirije of Zagreb-Ljubljana currently on a visit to the Russian Orthodox Church with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, took part in the celebration on the commemoration day of St. Sergius of Radonezh in the Laura of the Holt Trinity and St. Sergius.
Among those accompanying Metropolitan Porfirije were Bishop Antonije of Moravica, representative of the Patriarch of Serbia to the Moscow Patriarchal Throne and monks of the Kovilj Monastery.
Metropolitan Porfirije and Bishop Antonije concelebrated with the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church in the Laura’s Cathedral of the Dormition, had a short talk with His Holiness and after festive repast visited the Moscow Theological schools.
That same day, Metropolitan Porfirije met with Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations (DECR).
They were joined in the meeting by Bishop Antonije of Moravica, archpriest Nikolai Balashov, DEC deputy chairman, Andrei Khoshev, a DECR staff member, Mr. Romanov, director of the Russian Museum in Maribor, Slovenia and Mr. Rois, advisor to the director of ‘Terme Maribor’ Company.
Metropolitan Hilarion congratulated Metropolitan Porfirije with his new appointment and wished him God’s help in his responsible ministry. The hierarchs discussed prospects of cooperation between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Zagreb-Ljubljana metropolia, pastoral care for the Russian citizens living in Croatia and Slovenia, and other issues of mutual interest.
