Days of Russia Organizing Committee meets at Department for External Church Relations

On November 23, 2015, the Organizing Committee of the Days of Russia met for its regular session at the Moscow Patriarchate’s department for external church relations (DECR) to consider religious events to be held abroad. The meeting was chaired by the Organizing Committee co-chairmen, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, DECR chairman, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs G. Gatilov and Deputy Minister of Culture Ms. A. Manilova.

The meeting was also attended by S. Aristov, Deputy Minister of Transportation; Bishop Antony of Bogorodsk, head of the Moscow Patriarchate office for institutions abroad; M. Shvydkoy, special presidential representative for international cultural cooperation; M. Khorev, deputy director of the Foreign Ministry’s department for humanitarian cooperation and human rights, Ms. O. Koroleva, deputy director of the Government’s department for culture, Archpriest Sergiy Zvonarev, DECR secretary for the far abroad, and others.

Welcoming the participants, Metropolitan Hilarion made an assessment of the preparation and conduct of the Days of Russia held in other countries in 2015 and drew their attention to the new opportunities for realizing the program offered by additional financing.

Mr. Gutilov and Ms. Manilova made proposals for further development of the Days of Russia project.

The meeting focused on the planning of events in 2106 in particular countries.
