Paschal greetings of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia to the Primates of the Local Orthodox Churches

His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia sent his greetings with the Resurrection of Christ to His Holiness Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople; His Beatitude Pope and Patriarch Theodoros II of Alexandria, His Beatitude Patriarch John X of Antioch; His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilos III of  Jerusalem, His Holiness and Beatitude Catholics-Patriarch Iliya II of All Georgia, His Holiness Patriarch Irenej of Serbia, His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel of Romania, His Holiness Patriarch Neofit of Bulgaria, His Beatitude Archbishop Chrysostomos II of Cyprus, His Beatitude Archbishop Hieronymos II of Athens and All Greece, His Beatitude Archbishop Anastasios of Tirana and All Albania, His Beatitude Metropolitan Savva of Warsaw and All Poland, His Beatitude Metropolitan Rastislav of the Czech Lands and Slovakia; and His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon of All America and Canada. The message reads as follows:

I wholeheartedly greet you with the radiant feast of Pascha.

Christ is risen!

There are no more joyful and meaningful words for Christians as they contain the core of the faith and the affirmation of hope for their own resurrection and eternal life with God.

The Lord Jesus Christ, the resurrection and the life (Jn 11:25), has shown His might by His feat on the Cross and victorious resurrection from the dead thus fulfilling the pre-eternal covenant for the salvation of the human race.

‘Because I live, ye shall live also’ (Jn 14:19). This promise of the Saviour fills our hearts with awe in anticipation of the general resurrection and affirms us in our wish to be always with Christ even in this age so that we may more perfectly partake of Him in the day which knoweth no night of the kingdom of Christ (cf. Easter Canon, Canticle IX).

I pray to the Risen Saviour to grant you according to the riches of His glory (Eph 3:16) physical strength, peace and abundant spiritual gifts, and peace and prosperity to your God-loving flock.

With brotherly love in the Lord,

+KIRILL

Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia
