Primate of the Polish Orthodox Church meets with the head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church’s Representation to European Institutions and International Organizations
On 14 September 2018, His Beatitude Metropolitan Sava of Warsaw and All Poland met with Bishop Viktor of Baryshevka, head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church’s Representation to European Institutions and International Organizations, who arrived in Warsaw to attend the annual OSCE meeting.
Bishop Viktor conveyed to the Primate of the Polish Orthodox Church fraternal greetings from His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufry of Kiev and All Ukraine and congratulated him on the 80th birthday that His Beatitude Metropolitan Sava is celebrating this year.
The representative of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church told about his work at the annual OSCE meeting and about the latest developments pertaining to the church life in Ukraine. On behalf of the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Vladyka Viktor thanked His Beatitude Metropolitan Sava for the clear-cut and unambiguous position on the Ukrainian issue, expressed in May by the Bishops’ Council of the Polish Orthodox Church, which noted that “the autocephaly is granted by the Mother Church only after getting approval from the Primates of all the Local Churches.”
Metropolitan Sava of Warsaw and All Poland conveyed his assurances of constant prayerful and fraternal support to the only canonical Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufry. “Be brave and hold to the unity around your Primate; do not give up and remember that God is with you,” the Primate of the Polish Orthodox Church said in conclusion.
After the meeting Bishop Viktor visited the Cathedral of St. Mary Magdalene in Warsaw, official website of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church reports.
