Bishop Nestor of Chersonese takes part in glorifying an assembly of old saints of Spain and Portugal

On October 7, 2018, an assembly of the saints who shone forth in Spain and Portugal was glorified during the Divine Liturgy celebrated at the Parish of the Dormition of the Most Holy Mother of God (Romanian Orthodox Church).
The decision to glorify the Iberian saints was made by the Assembly of Orthodox Bishops in Spain and Portugal on April 20, 2018. It was based on a church calendar compiled by Archpriest Andrew Kordochkin, rector of the church of St. Mary Magdalene Equal-to-the-Apostles in Madrid. The calendar included over 200 names of old saints. The feast of commemoration will take place annually on the Sunday on the eve of October 12 – the celebration of Our Lady of the Pilar, a national holiday in Spain.
The Divine Liturgy was presided over by Metropolitan Joseph of Western Europe and the Mediterranean (Romanian Orthodox Church), who was assisted by Bishop Nestor of Chersonese, Bishop Timothy of Spain and Portugal (Romanian Orthodox Church), and Archpriest Andrew Kordochkin and clergy of the local diocese of the Romanian Orthodox Church.
After the liturgy, Bishop Nestor addressed the worshippers, stressing in his homily the supranational nature of the Church of Christ.
In the evening, Bishop Nestor left for Barcelona, the website of the Diocese of Chersonese reports.
