DECR chairman meets with the head of the European Union’s representation in Russia



On 30 October 2018, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations (DECR) met with Mr. Markus Ederer, head of the Representation of the European Union in the Russian Federation.
They were joined in the meeting by Mr. Andrei Valentinov, counselor of the Representation, and Deacon Andrei Tiutushkin, a staff member of the DECR Secretariat for far abroad countries.
Metropolitan Hilarion warmly greeted the guest in the oldest Synodal department which is a church analogue to the ministry of foreign affairs. The EU Ambassador thanked the DECR chairman for the meeting.
Discussed were the harassment of Christians in different regions of the world, infringement of the rights of the believers and other issues of mutual interest.
