Interim administrator of Patriarchal parishes in the USA meets with the Primate and members of the OCA Synod
On 7 May 2019, Bishop Matthew of Sourozh, interim administrator of the Patriarchal parishes in the USA, met with His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon of All America and Canada and members of the Holy Synod, which will hold its spring session on May 7-10. The meeting took place at the OCA Chancery in Syosset.
Topical issues of inter-Orthodox cooperation and cooperation between the two Churches were brought up in the course of conversation which was held in a warm friendly atmosphere.
Also discussed were ongoing plans for celebrations marking the 225th anniversary (2019) of the beginning of Orthodox mission on the North American continent by monks from Valamo, the 50th anniversary (2020) of the granting of autocephaly to the Orthodox Church in America by the Moscow Patriarchate, and the 25th anniversary (2019) of the opening of the OCA representation at the Church of St. Catherine the Great Martyr in Moscow.
