On 27 November 2018, Bishop John of Bogorodsk, newly-appointed administrator of the Moscow Patriarchate’s parishes in Italy, met with Cardinal Kurt Koch, President of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity. The participants in the meeting, which took place at the premises of the Pontifical Council, discussed a wide range of issues pertaining to the bilateral cooperation. For instance, Bishop John informed the representative of the Holy See about the current situation caused by the anti-canonical actions of the Patriarchate of Constantinople which had recognized the schismatic leaders in Ukraine and continued to promote the project of the Ukrainian autocephaly.
Taking part in the meeting were also Hieromonk Amvrosy (Matsegora), secretary of the Administration of the Moscow Patriarchate’s parishes in Italy, and Rev. Hyacinthe Destivelle, a staff member of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity.
