Metropolitan Hilarion sends greetings to Primate of Orthodox Church of Alexandria on his Name Day
In his message to His Beatitude Patriarch Theodoros II of Alexandria and All Africa, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, congratulated His Beatitude on his Name Day.
I respectfully send you my cordial greetings with the commemoration day of the Holy Great Martyr Theodore Tyron, your heavenly patron.
Just like this saint, pleasing unto God, you devote all your life to bearing witness to the truth of Christ, tirelessly proclaiming “this gospel of the kingdom” (Mt 24:14) to the peoples of the African continent.
In your laborious Primatial service at the helm of the Holy Church of Alexandria, you attach special attention to strengthening relations with the Moscow Patriarchate. Your Beatitude’s recent visit to the dioceses of Moscow, St. Petersburg and Yekaterinburg brought spiritual joy and blessing to numerous faithful of the Russian Orthodox Church.
May the Lord, through the prayers of the Holy Great Martyr Theodore Tyron, grant to Your Beatitude spiritual and bodily strength and His bountiful help in your lofty Patriarchal ministry.
With respect and love in the Lord,
Metropolitan of Volokolamsk
