Metropolitan Hilarion celebrates All-Night Vigil at church of the Holy Spirit in St. Sergius’ Laura of the Trinity
October 7, 2017 – The celebrations of the commemoration day of St. Sergius of Radonezh began at the St. Sergius Laura of the Holy Trinity.
Metropolitan Onufry of Kiev and All Ukraine officiated at Lesser Vespers with reading of the akathistos at the shrine with the relics of St. Sergius.
His Beatitude was assisted by Metropolitan Juvenaly of Krutitsy and Kolomna, Metropolitan Vladimir of Kishinev and All Moldova, Metropolitan Vikentiy of Tashkent and Izbekistan; Metropolitan Varsonofiy of St. Petersburg and Ladoga, chancellor of the Moscow Patriarchate; Metropolitan Pavel of Minsk and Zaslavl, Patriarchate Exarch for All Belarus; Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, head of the department for external church relations; Archbishop Feognost of Sergiev-Posad; head of the synodal department for monasteries and monasticism, abbot of the St. Sergius Laura of the Trinity; as well as the Laura’s brethren in holy orders.
Traditionally, the festive hierarchal divine services were celebrated on the eve of the commemoration day of the Abbot of the Russian Land in all the churches of the monastery he founded. With the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill, All-Night Vigil at the Laura’s church of the Descend of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles was presided over by Metropolitan Hilarion.
His concelebrants included Metropolitan Innocent of Vilna and Lithuania, Archbishop Justinian of Elista and Kalmykia, Bishop Lazar of Narva and Prichudie, Bishop Clement of Krasnoslobodsk and Temnikovsk, Bishop Irenaeus of Sacramento (Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia), vicar of the Diocese of Western America, and brethren of the monastery.
