The oldest cleric of the Chinese Autonomous Orthodox Church is buried in Shanghai
On 9 March 2017, the funeral service was conducted for Protodeacon Evangel Lu Yafu, 90, in Shanghai. The oldest cleric of the Chinese Autonomous Orthodox Church has reposed in the Lord on March 5.
The near and dear of the late Protodeacon and Chinese Orthodox Christians from Shanghai, Beijing and other cities attended the service, which was conducted by Archpriest Alexy Kiselevich, rector of the Orthodox community in Shanghai, and the Rev. Alexander Yu Shi, rector of the Church of the Protecting Veil in Harbin.
Condolences sent by His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia and by Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church relations were read out in the Russian and Chinese languages.
