The Moscow Patriarchate commission for students exchange was established in 2012 by the decision of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia. The commission is directed by Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, head of the Moscow Patriarchate department for external church relations (DECR) and CMI rector. Annually, the best students of the Moscow Patriarchate educational institutions as well as staff members of the synodal and diocesan departments are sent, through the efforts of the commission, to other countries for training and raising their skills.
