Seminar held in the German city of Krefeld for Sunday school teachers.

At the Church of the Great Martyr Barbara in the city of Krefeld in Germany on 29th November 2025 a seminar was held entitled ‘Approaches in Teaching in Sunday Schools: Theory and Practice’. Attending the meeting were clergy, teachers and parish workers from Germany and the Netherlands.
Giving presentations were the rector of the Krefeld church archpriest Alexei Veselov, archpriest Anatoly Batyuk from Rotterdam and Father Andrei Mololkin from the department of education and catechism under the diocese of Berlin and Germany. They emphasized the importance of the joint discussion of issues of Orthodox education, reports the diocesan website.
The main event of the meeting was the lecture given by professor of Saint Tikhon’s Humanitarian University O. L. Janushkyavichene on the role of age in teaching, the peculiarities of teaching the foundations of Orthodox culture and practical recommendations for the spiritual and moral upbringing of children. His presentation examined the approaches in working with children of different age-groups, the typical errors made by teachers and the means of correcting them.
At the conclusion of the seminar a resolution was adopted to set up a common source for methodological materials and holding regular meetings to strengthen cooperation between Sunday schools. The participants noted the importance of the exchange of experience and joint support for teachers and parents in the process of giving children an Orthodox upbringing.
