Department for External Church Relations to host International Conference on Church Care for People with Mental Conditions

The 7th International Conference on Church Care for People with Mental Conditions will take place at the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate on 28th – 29th November 2025. The meeting was organized on the initiative of the Commission for Church Education and Diakonia of the Inter-Council Presence of the Russian Orthodox Church. The Department for External Church Relations and the Mental Health Research Centre act as co-organizers.

The conference will focus on such topical issues as effects of religious devotion on symptoms and course of psychiatric disorders, transcultural approaches to mental conditions, mental health education for clergymen and doctors, effects of emergency social situations on mental health, etc.

Taking part in the conference will be psychiatrists and psychologists, clergymen and students of theological educational institutions, as well as representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church, the Roman Catholic Church and the Oriental Churches. Among the speakers will be leading Russian specialists in this area, as well as experts from Spain, Armenia, India, Egypt, Ethiopia, Italy, Switzerland, Iraq and other countries.
