DECR representative takes part in Republican Counter-Terrorism Forum in Makhachkala, Dagestan

On 6th – 10th October 2025, Makhachkala hosted the Republican Counter-Terrorism Forum. It was organized by the Ministry of National Policy and Religious Affairs of the Republic of Dagestan with the assistance of the Central Office of the National Antiterrorism Committee and the Antiterrorism Commission in the Republic of Dagestan.
The meeting focused on the issues of combatting extremism and terrorism.
Taking part in the Forum were over 800 representatives of the Russian regions, including Deputy Mufti of Dagestan Murad Ismailov; Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Dagestan Ramazan Dzhafarov; Hero of Russia Temirlan Abutalimov, interim Minister for National Policy and Religious Affairs of the Republic of Dagestan; Hero of Russia Magomed Baachilov; blogger and radio presenter Trofim Tatarenkov; “Spas” TV channel special correspondent Alexander Yegortsev; and others. Representing the Makhachkala Diocese of the Russian Orthodox Church was Hieromonk Ioann (Anisimov), head of the Diocesan Department for Church’s Relations with Society and Mass Media.
With the blessing of Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, Hieromonk Grigory (Matrusov) took part in the meeting. Father Grigory addressed the Forum’s plenary session. In his speech, he pointed out that Christians and Muslims should work together in combatting terrorism, for by their evil-doing terrorists try to intimidate society, sow chaos and division on religious or ethnic grounds.
