DECR Communication Service, 25.08.2025.
The Pilgrim children's camp was successfully held for the fifth time in the vicinity of the town of Geyikli near the coast of the Aegean Sea in Turkey fr om August 15 to 25. It was organized by the Russian Language and Culture Association in Izmir with the support of the Russian Orthodox Church and the Foundation for the Support of Christian Culture and Heritage.
In 2025, sixty boys and girls took part in the project. The children studied the Russian language and culture, the basics of the Orthodox faith, were engaged in general physical training, learned to provide first aid, practiced archery, javelin throwing, orienteering, participated in mini-hikes, and acquired self-defense skills. The camp traditionally organized a theater workshop, wh ere the children studied the basics of public speaking and acting. This year, the participants prepared and held a ball for the first time.
Among those vacationing in the camp were not only children of compatriots living in Turkey, but also children from Turkish families. The winners of the 12th children’s drawing competition "Easter Miracle" also took part in the work of "Pilgrim."
On August 23, priest Georgy Sergeyev, responsible for the care of the Moscow Patriarchate faithful in the Republic of Turkey, celebrated the Divine Liturgy on the territory of the camp. The children and educators received the Holy Mysteries of Christ. After the service, Fr. Georgy met with the young "pilgrims" and answered their numerous questions.
