DECR Communications Service, 02.06.2025.
In 2025, the Orthodox Church celebrates a significant date – the 1700th anniversary of the First Ecumenical Council held in Nicea.
With the blessing of Metropolitan Sergy of Singapore and Southeast Asia, Patriarchal Exarch of Southeast Asia, the Diocese of Singapore celebrated solemn services, at which the Patriarchal message on the occasion of the 1700th anniversary of the First Ecumenical Council was read out. Also, a thanksgiving was celebrated on this significant day, the Exarchate's website reports.
A series of lectures dedicated to this historic event was read on May 25 and June 1 by Priest Philip Calington, a cleric of the church of the Dormition in Singapore, a candidate of theology and a lecturer at St. Tikhon's Orthodox University for the Humanities in Moscow.
The lectures delivered in English and Indonesian were broadcast to the parishes of the diocese.
