Documentary People of Christ. Our Time telling about persecutions against Ukrainian Orthodox Church was shown in Washington

On 13th February 2025, the documentary People of Christ. Our Time telling about the Ukrainian authorities’ persecutions against the Ukrainian Orthodox Church was shown at the Russian Embassy in Washington, D.C. One of its creators was a renowned film director Emir Kusturica.
The documentary features, among others, Metropolitan Irinej of Bačka, hierarch of the Serbian Orthodox Church; film director Emir Kusturica, who also acted as its producer; Orthodox Christian priest, philosopher and poet Mario Selvini from Genoa, Italy; professor of the Cambridge University Vukan Marković; and music producer Yuri Bardash, Donbass native. Philosopher Ruslan Kalinchuk from Ivano-Frankivsk and Priest Nikolai Mogilny from Kyiv appeared in the film to tell about the pressure put on believers in Ukraine. The documentary premiered in Belgrade on 18th September 2024. Among those in attendance was His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Porfirije. His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’ attended the film’s premiere in Moscow.
Invited to the film screening at the Russian Embassy in Washington, D.C., were representatives of various countries, Russian officials and journalists.
Archpriest Igor Vyzhanov, rector of St. Nicholas Patriarchal Cathedral in New York, and Archpriest Viktor Potapov, rector of St. John the Baptist Church of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia in Washington, D.C., also attended the event at the invitation of Mr Alexander Kim, Charge d'Affaires of the Russian Federation to the United States of America.
