Representatives of the Armenian Apostolic Church Youth Visit Zachatyevsky Monastery
On December 14, members of the youth union "Nur" of the Russian and New Nakhichevan Diocese of the Armenian Apostolic Church, led by the youth spiritual mentor Priest Arsen Paylevanyan, visited the Zachatyevsky Stavropegial Convent in Moscow.
The delegation was accompanied by Vartan Pogosyan, a diocesan specialist in interethnic and interreligious relations.
The guests were introduced to the history and contemporary life of the monastery. Representatives of the Armenian Apostolic Church visited the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos, the Church of the Descent of the Holy Spirit, and the Church of the Conception of Righteous Anna. They venerated the monastery's revered relics: a fragment of the Precious and Life-Giving Cross of the Lord, the icon of the Mother of God "Merciful," and the reliquary of the monastery's founders, Saints Juliana and Eupraxia, whose relics rest beneath the floor. Additionally, the young visitors examined a chapel dedicated to the Holy Martyr Vladimir Ambartsumov, a prominent 20th-century ascetic of Armenian heritage who is widely known and venerated among the faithful of the Armenian Apostolic Church.
Afterward, a meeting was held with Abbess Juliana (Kaledy), the head of the Zachatyevsky Convent and Deputy Chair of the Synodal Department for Monasteries and Monasticism. She shared insights about monastic life in the Russian Orthodox Church and answered the guests' questions.
The meeting was also attended by DECR staff members Hieromonk Mark (Akhmathanov) and D.E. Arakelyan.
