Report on church relief efforts in Kursk and Belgorod regions for 7th September

Three thousand Gospels from the “Nikea” Publishing House have been delivered to the Church Centre for All-Round Social Relief functioning in the Holy Trinity Convent in Kursk. The Slavic Fund has sent 160 Gospels and a prayer book.

Since 16th August, 15,685 people have appealed for help to the Church Centre for All-Round Social Relief at the Trinity Convent in Kursk.
Seeking assistance at the Church Centre on 7th September were 1,428 people (382 families). Six families needed help with finding accommodation. A lot of people were in need of bedclothes, pillows, blankets and folding beds.
The help-seeking families received cleaning products and food packages. Provided upon request were pillows, blankets, bedclothes, folding beds, stationary, new clothes, 6 tonometers, 2 glucometers, crutches, a toilet chair and a wheelchair. A family with disabled members from the Korenevo district received targeted humanitarian aid (a food package, cleaning products, a pillow, a blanket and bedclothes).
The head of the “Orthodox Volunteers” movement, Mikhail Kuksov, delivered 13 tons of humanitarian aid to the Church Centre, including cleaning products, foodstuffs, bedclothes, blankets and pillows. The Synodal Department for Charity, the Nizhny Novgorod Diocese and the RBK Group have sent folding beds, bedclothes, pillows, blankets, mattresses, towels, cleaning products and foodstuffs. A private benefactor donated 5 laptops for schoolchildren.
Thirty-two volunteers worked in the Church Centre that day.

Since 6th August, 715 people (242 families) from the Kursk region and 19 people (7 families) from the Belgorod region appealed for help to the Moscow Headquarters for Refugee Assistance operating under the Synodal Department for Charity.
Since 6th August, the Moscow Headquarters has received 1,535 aid deliveries from churches, monasteries and concerned Muscovites.
On 7th September, 20 people (7 families) from the Kursk region sought assistance at the Moscow Headquarters. Compared to the day before, the number of families seeking assistance decreased. They all stay with their relatives and friends. Five families asked for help in finding temporary accommodation. All the families received humanitarian aid (foodstuffs, hygiene and cleaning products, school supplies). Upon request, bedclothes, blankets, pillows and mattresses were provided.

Priests from various dioceses pay regular visits to Kursk hospitals. Since 9th August, there have already been 5 shifts with 5 priests from 3 dioceses.

Eleven volunteers and one staff member of the Synodal Department for Charity have been working in three temporary accommodation centres and one hospital in the Kursk region, diaconia.ru reports.
