Patriarchal Exarch of Africa celebrates at St. Alexander Nevsky parish in Migori deanery, Kenya

On August 24, Metropolitan Konstantin of Zaraysk, Patriarchal Exarch of Africa, visited several parishes in the Migori deanery in western Kenya. He was accompanied by Rev. Georgy Maksimov, chairman of the Exarchate’s Missionary Department, and reader V. Dendyuk, the hierarch’s private secretary.
The archpastor visited the parishes of St. Athanasius the Great in Nyabigege and of St. Peter the Apostle in Gesonso which operate orphanages and had talks with the rectors and children.
At the parish of St. Athanasius, Metropolitan Konstantin consecrated a site for the construction of a church and donated a cow for the orphanage. Also, he gave a bought on donations cow for children at the parish of St. Peter.
On the same day, the Patriarchal Exarch visited several more parishes in the same deanery, namely, of St. Alexander Nevsky, St. John the Baptist, and St. Philopheus.
On August 25, the 9th Sunday after Pentecost, Metropolitan Konstantin celebrated Divine Liturgy at the parish of St. Alexander Nevsky, which he had visited the day before. He was assisted by Rev. Georgy Maksimov, Rev. Patapios Chasia, the dean, and clergy of the deanery, website of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa reports.
After the Liturgy, the hierarch addressed the worshippers with an archpastoral word.
Bishop Konstantin presented the parish with an icon of the Holy Trinity and with a cow so that the children under the parish’s care could have dairy products. Small icons were distributed among all those present.
Afterwards, Metropolitan Konstantin blessed the hives for the apiary that has been set up by the Orthodox sisterhood of the Migori deanery.
On the same day, the hierarch visited the parishes of St. Basil the Great, Archangel Raphael and St. Barnabas. He talked with the parishioners and clergy, and presented them with gifts to mark the occasion.
