Report on church relief aid to people affected by hostilities in Kursk and Belgorod regions as of August 14, 2024
The chief doctor of the Church Hospital of St. Alexii of Moscow, Alexey Zarov, visited Kursk. He visited the temporary accommodation point in Fatezh, went to Kurchatov, visited patients at the Kursk Regional Hospital, and arranged for the organization of service by mercy sisters from Moscow. On August 14, a meeting was held with Metropolitan German of Kursk and Rylsk to discuss the establishment of a sisterhood. In the near future, the church hospital will conduct care courses for the staff of the Kursk Regional Hospital and Orthodox volunteers in Kursk. On August 15, three sisters from the Hospital of St. Alexii will arrive at the Kursk Regional Hospital to organize care.

On August 14, 2024, the Synodal Department for Charity's hotline received 31 requests from the Kursk region. Of these, 19 sought assistance, and 12 offered their help. Three families were able to find housing thanks to a closed Telegram channel created by hotline staff. One family was provided with phone service. Since August 7, 2024, a total of 355 requests have been received from the Kursk region on the Synodal Department for Charity's hotline at 8-800-70-70-222.

Compared to the previous day, the number of families contacting the Moscow refugee assistance headquarters at the Synodal Department for Charity has increased. In one day, 6 families (16 people) from the Kursk region reached out to the Moscow refugee assistance headquarters. Almost all arrived at relatives or acquaintances. All families that contacted received humanitarian aid (food, hygiene products, household chemicals). Additionally, pillows, bedding, and blankets were provided to refugees upon request. One family received assistance with accommodation for the following week. In one day, the Moscow headquarters received 152 deliveries of aid from churches and concerned citizens. Since August 6, 2024, 40 families (113 people) from the Kursk region have contacted the Moscow refugee assistance headquarters, with 477 deliveries of aid received.

In one day, 57 families contacted the church refugee assistance headquarters in Belgorod, located at the Marfo-Mariinsky Monastery. An additional 2 families reached out via the hotline. Humanitarian aid (food, hygiene products, bedding, pillows, blankets, clothing) was provided to 124 people: 58 from Belgorod region and the border area, 22 from the Kharkov direction, 28 from Kursk region, and 16 from Donetsk People's Republic, Luhansk People's Republic, and Ukraine. Since August 6, 2024, 67 people from the Kursk region have contacted the church refugee assistance headquarters in Belgorod.

The church shelter "Pokrov" in Voronezh accepted 17 people from the Kursk region and is expecting another 10 soon.

Throughout the day, work was underway to organize a comprehensive church center for assisting displaced persons at the Holy Trinity Monastery in Kursk: floors were laid, shelves assembled, tables and chairs for social workers were delivered, and equipment and supplies for the center were purchased. A Telegram group for coordinating the activities of volunteers at the "Volunteers Kursk" assistance center was also launched today.

On August 14, a meeting took place between representatives of the Synodal Department for Charity – Archpriest Sergey Klyayev and the head of hospital ministry Natalia Shakuro – with hospital priests from the Kursk Diocese. They discussed issues of providing pastoral and volunteer assistance to the wounded in medical institutions.
