Primate of the Assyrian Church of the East sends condolences for victims of terrorist attack in Krasnogorsk
DECR Communication Service, 25.03.2024.
His Holiness Mar Awa III, Catholicos-Patriarch of the Assyrian Church of the East, extended condolences to His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus' for the victims of the terrorist attack that entailed multiple fatalities at the Crocus City Hall in Krasnogorsk, Moscow region, on 22 March 2024.
The message reads:
Your Holiness and Venerable Brother:
I pray that the epistle finds Your Holiness in good health of body and soul. It is with great sorrow that I received news of the recent terrorist attack which took place at the Crocus City Hall concert venue in Krasnogorsk this past March 22nd . The treacherous act of mass shooting resulted in the death of more than 137 innocent lives, with more than 180 injured in varying degrees.
Such a barbaric act is indeed appalling and should be condemned by all men of good will. The armed attack against innocent civilians is a crime against humanity itself and demonstrates that the perpetrators of this heinous act have no human morals or scruples. We offer our prayers and solace to the families and loved ones of both those who lost their lives and the injured who are presently fighting in order to preserve their lives. May the Lord give repose to the souls of the dead, and healing to those who are injured.
Since March 24th is declared a day of mourning for the whole country, we too offer our spiritual solidarity and solace to Your Holiness and all Russian citizens who are suffering because of this abominable terrorist attack. May the Lord make His lasting peace to abide in the country and in the region, amongst all peoples and nations of good will.
During this holy season of the Great Lenten Fast, may we offer prayers and penance in the place of those who are so darkened by sin and distant from God for having committed this foul act, while seeking the Lord’s abundant mercies upon the survivors and their families. Please be assured of our nearness to Your Holiness and your fellow countrymen during this sad hour. May the grace and peace of the Lord Jesus Christ remain with your Beloved Charity now and always. Amen.
Brotherly in Christ Jesus the Lord,
+Mar AWA III,
Catholicos-Patriarch of the Assyrian Church of the East
Patriarch
