Metropolitan Nestor of Chersonesus and Western Europe celebrates at Basilica of St. Ambrose of Milan

On December 20, the commemoration day of St. Ambrose of Milan, Metropolitan Nestor of Chersonesus and Western Europe, Patriarchal Exarch of Western Europe and administrator of the Patriarchal parishes in Italy, paid an archpastoral visit to Milan and celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Basilica of St. Ambrose where his relics rest.
Concelebrating with the hierarch were archimandrite Amvrosiy (Makar), rector of the Russian parish of St. Ambrose in Milan, and clergymen of the Moscow Patriarchate parishes in Italy, website of the Diocese of Chersonesus reports.
Liturgical hymns and prayers were sung and offered in the Church Slavonic and Italian languages.
Praying during the Liturgy that was celebrated at the central altar of the ancient basilica were many parishioners and pilgrims.
After the dismissal, clergymen and parishioners went to the crypt and celebrated prayer service at the sarcophagus with the relics of St. Ambrose and the holy martyrs Gervasius and Protasius.
After the divine service, Metropolitan Nestor addressed the worshippers with a sermon and congratulated all the faithful in Milan on the commemoration day of their patron saint. Also, he greeted archimandrite Amvrosiy with his Nameday and wished him the all-strengthening God’s aid in his pastoral ministry.
