DECR chairman attends the opening of “Silent Sermon’ exhibition in Vienna

On November 25, 2023, a “Silent Sermon” exhibition featuring Russian icons of the 13th -16th centuries was opened at the Russian Centre of Science and Culture in Vienna. The event was timed to coincide with the celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Diocese of Vienna and Austria, the diocesan website reports.
Among those attending the special event were Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, H.E. Dmitry Lyubinsky, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Austria, Mr. Oleg Yu. Ksenofontov, head of the Austrian Representation of Rossotrudnichestvo, and other guests of honour.
Celebration of the remarkable date began on November 25 with a concert of sacred music at the Vienna Cathedral of St. Nicholas. In the evening, Metropolitan Anthony who had arrived in the capital of Austria with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’ to lead the anniversary celebrations, officiated at the All-night Vigil in the cathedral. The Divine Liturgy was celebrated there on Sunday, November 26.
